Northampton International Academy’s Combined Cadet Force (Royal Marines section) has been named Normandy National Drill Champions at the prestigious Sir Steuart Pringle Trophy competition.
This is the first year they have taken part in the event which saw cadets compete against 16 schools from across the country, including some of the UK’s most renowned private and public schools such as Winchester College, Harrow School, and Rugby School.
A team of nine cadets, drawn from Years 10, 11, and 12, demonstrated exceptional discipline, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the competition which tested them across a programme of physical and mental challenges. Their remarkable effort and professionalism earned them top honours in the Normandy Drill category, a testament to their dedication and commitment to excellence.
Contingent Commander Lt Cdr Marc Pether and Lt James Riley SSI praised the cadets for their outstanding performance and attitude. Lt Cdr Pether said:“Our cadets gave everything, they worked hard, supported each other, and showed that with determination and teamwork, they could compete with the very best.”
Executive Headteacher at Northampton International Academy Martin Serrão said: “To compete at such a high level against some of the country’s most established schools reflects the hard work and commitment to excellence that defines our school and our learners. We are very proud of this achievement.”
This outstanding achievement marks another proud milestone for NIA’s CCF programme which has been running since 2022.
